A TUSCAN SANCTUARY IN LONG DITTON

Our client’s brief was to capture the feeling of a Tuscan sanctuary. One of their favourite places to travel to, taking them back to sun-soaked towns.

To fulfil this brief, we used venetian plastering on the walls. Which offers a natural depth and texture, due to the mix of plaster and marble dust. This creates a rustic backdrop for the Victorian style claw foot bath, painted in Green smoke by Farrow & Ball, enhancing the colour.

The bath is in the bedroom – opposite the bed, with an opening leading through to the dressing area. Here the venetian plastering continues, paired with bespoke handmade wardrobes, with slatted sliding doors. The warm wood gives a nod to an outdoor wildlife sanctuary, as if in tall grasses peering through. From here, we venture through the dressing area to the ensuite. Again, Venetian plaster continues, including within the walk-in shower area.

To add contrast, we added accents of black, with a crittall shower screen and volcanic finish on the Zehnder towel rail.

In keeping with the sanctuary feel, we incorporated natural materials, such as a solid surface basin top in quartz. Paired with hand-crafted basins, that offer a textured look of woven rattan baskets.

The design is complimented with antique style brassware, in a bright nickel finish. Giving it a modern and luxurious twist.
