Roman baths aren’t what you’d expect to find in Guildford! Our Guildford-based client came to us wanting a bath put into their family bathroom, they also wanted to remove the built in storage that encased their basin area. While creating a light and bright feel to the luxury bathroom design.
We reconfigured the space, by moving the basin area to a smaller wall in an unused corner of the room. Here we used a Svedberg wall hung unit in a special finish of marine blue. Seeing the floor under the basin gives an illusion of more space, this is paired with a back lit round mirror, offering light in an otherwise dark corner.
The sloping ceiling is the perfect place to house the bath from BC Designs. While fitted against the wall, the Monreale bath almost looks like a freestanding bath. We added recessed shelves, allowing soap and other essential items to be within easy reach when bathing. The mirrored wall creates a sense of space, letting light bounce around the room.
We used soft tones with the tiles. Using a plain tile on the walls and a soft pattern tile on the floor and inside the recessed shelves. Giving a Romanesque feel to the design – particularly within the open wetroom area. This is enhanced by the skylight above the shower – flooding the area with light.
The WC has a handy shelf created with the housing of the cistern. Allowing plants & candles to personalise the space. We painted the walls with Wevet by Farrow & Ball. Keeping to the soft delicate colour scheme of the tiles.
