Contemporary Bathroom design with Timeless Colour Scheme in Thames Ditton

Contemporary-Bathroom-design

We were chosen to design this master bathroom project by a lovely couple in Thames Ditton. They came to us as they were after an outstanding bathroom design and installation service that offered a fully managed, stress-free, turn-key service. While providing excellent quality bathroom products. Resulting in a stunning bathroom of their dreams.

During the design meetings at our bathroom studio in Long Ditton, we were able to tailor a design specific to their desires and style. Understanding how our clients’ use their space and what is important to their day-to-day process; such as, sharing the basin when getting ready, helped us to offer a personalised bathroom. We discovered that our clients were after a contemporary sanctuary for themselves.

It was not just about the quality of the products or installation, but about the feel of the space. Therefore, producing a very personal design incorporating classic lines and colour scheme with a timeless look that they could enjoy for years to come, was very important to them.

1. The Before Pictures

The layout of the original bathroom worked perfectly well, the set up just needed tweaking. It looked outdated and was leaking at key points after only 6 years. The slow leaks were caused by inferior products that were badly fitted. We needed to ensure that everything chosen for the project, met our high standard quality checks. Ensuring the bathroom would be future proof.

The wetroom had small mosaic tiles, which proved impractical when it came to cleaning. While the wall in the shower, obscured the window, blocking out natural light and resulting in a closed-in and dark space.

Adding extra and easy access storage was a must, allowing for a clutter-free bathroom, particularly around the basin area.

Our clients like warm tones in general, but were after a lighter and brighter feel to their bathroom, that offered a contemporary feel, without compromising the classic and timeless style they were after.

2. The Proposal

For the proposal, we created a timeless look by embracing a classic colour combination of creams and browns, enhancing the look with a contemporary feel.

Interiors in the last couple of years has been drawing inspiration from nature. Whether it be leafy foliage and tropical prints, or introducing subtle elements with natural fabrics such as linen weave. The concept for this bathroom was a mix of patterns and materials which had a natural and raw feel to them. Creating a sensually tactile and serene space.

3. The Finished Project

We mixed an ash wood effect tile on the floor from Porcelanosa, a slightly textured unsaturated cream tile for the walls from Minoli, and an accent tile in the same muted cream, with natural wave texture, also from Porcelanosa.  The floor tiles compliment the darker shade of the basin unit. We played with textures and materials to achieve a timeless yet contemporary feel .

We replaced the chunky shower wall with two frameless glass panels from Matki, opening up the space allowing light to penetrate the room. By adding two recessed shelves for toiletries, allowed the wetroom area to be clutter free, while keeping essential showering products close to hand.

We added two ceramic basins, creating a personal space for each client. Using a stone worktop ensures the surface is durable and long lasting, while creating a stylish finish. Opting for drawers under the wall-hung unit, not only provides extra storage but it is easier for the user to get to their everyday toiletries. Moor of the floor is visible, creating a spacious feel to the bathroom.

Contemporary Bathroom design-2

As designers and expert installers, we are constantly trying to push boundaries with new trends within the bathroom industry. However, we truly believe the best designs out there are the ones that best respond to our clients needs and desire. This project is proof that you can create a balance between embracing classic lines, while following a trend that is not going to date anytime soon. Creating a space that feels contemporary and personal at the same time.
