Tangier meets Godalming

Our clients had what appeared to be an unremarkable shaped bathroom in their home in Goldalming. However, it was hiding a gem! We removed the ceiling to reveal a hidden volted ceiling giving the space an airy feel with dramatic height.

We used traditional handmade tiles crafted in Tangier. Made from raw, light-coloured unrefined clay, sourced from the Atlas Mountains to create a unique textured surface simultaneously adding depth and light. We coupled this with a soft sage basin by Dansani to create a calming tonal palette.

In keeping with the rustic natural feel of the tiles and beams, we paired brushed gold brassware from House of Piccadilly together with small hunter lights in brass by Pooky Lighting. The floor tiles from Ca’Pietra gives a warmth to design.

By levelling out the back wall, the room is given a streamlined structure, allowing for a recessed shelf over the bath. This in turn makes the volted ceiling the star of the show,

This room echoes with Tanginerian old-world culture, while simultaneously delivering an intimate yet grandeur oasis.
