Our client wanted to transform their kitchen in Cobham from a utilitarian angular design to a soft and welcoming entertainment space.
The mixture of classic and contemporary design adds a sophisticated and inviting feel to the open planned room. Most noticeably the island offers an ergonomic curve, allowing a natural flow from the kitchen to the dining area. We used two tones by Little Greene using their Gauze range, a lighter shade for the units and slightly darker for the island, balancing the soft tones around the room.
To maximise storage, we utilised the full height of the room with glass fronted display units above the more practical cupboards for daily use. The island has additional storage with clever storage solutions, such as the tray space and dedicated knife drawer, which help keep surfaces clear. The pantry also effectively uses the cubby hole that once housed a fridge freezer.
So our homeowner could be part of the conversation while cooking, we moved the hob from the back of the room to the island. Here we fitted a Bora cooker with recirculating hob, instantly draws cooking smells at the base - no need for unsightly hoods. This keeps the design fuss free leaving the kitchen open and as one with the rest of the space.
Our couple love to entertain and are passionate about wine. To showcase their collection and for ease of entertaining, we designed bespoke cabinetry to house two wine fridges from Sub Zero. One full length and the other with wine storage and two deep refrigerated drawers below. There is ample storage for glasses and snacks within the cabinetry .
The handmade floor adds a luxurious feel and unites the three zones, leading from the kitchen and dining area, into a compact yet perfectly organised and streamlined utility room. Again, we utilised every inch of space to maximise the area while creating a streamlined and organised space.
The lights over the dining area and island add to the feminine and organic feel, with the round orbs in glass, uniting the glass display cabinets and wine coolers. The design and soft tones create a relaxing space to enjoy with friends and family.
