Imagine stepping into your shower on a dark January morning and feeling warmth across your shoulders, like the sun on a summer’s day.
Here’s what infrared and UV light can bring to your daily routine, the ways to build them into your shower, and what makes the difference between a good installation and a great one.
You already shower every day. Infrared simply makes that time count for more.
There’s no extra room to find, no warm-up time and nothing new to fit into your week. Step in, touch the panel, and the warmth is there straight away.
It turns a quick wash into a few minutes that feel good for your body, morning or night, in a space you already have.
Both are part of natural sunlight, but you experience them very differently.
Infrared is warmth. You feel it on your skin and deep into your muscles, like sitting in the sun.
UV is the part of sunlight that gives your skin colour. You can’t feel it, so the warmth you notice comes from the infrared.
You can have infrared on its own, or infrared and UV together.
Unlike a sauna or steam room, infrared doesn’t need a room of its own. It warms you directly, in the shower you already have, and many of our clients enjoy it alongside a sauna or steam room.
Infrared warms your body rather than the air. On a cold winter morning, it feels like stepping into a patch of sunshine.
Deep warmth helps tight muscles let go. Turning your back to the panel for a few minutes is a simple way to ease the stiffness of a long day at a desk.
Heat increases blood flow to tired muscles, and research suggests warmth can ease the soreness that follows a workout.
It’s an easy habit after a run, a gym session or a weekend of sport.
In the morning, warmth helps a stiff body get moving. In the evening, it turns a quick shower into a few minutes of proper relaxation before bed.
We design with Sunshower, the leading specialists in infrared and UV light for the shower.
With Sunshower, you can opt for infrared warmth on its own (Sunshower One), or opt for infrared and UV together (Sunshower Plus). Once you’ve decided, it’s then just how you’d like it fitted.
The cleanest look of all. The glass panel sits flush with your tiles, so Sunshower becomes part of the wall.
It needs depth behind the wall, so it’s best planned as part of a new bathroom or shower refit.
A slim panel fitted to the surface of the wall, a good choice for adding infrared to an existing shower with minimal disruption.
A corner design that tucks neatly into the angle of your shower, making the most of the space in smaller enclosures and wet rooms.
Each comes in small, medium and large sizes, as Sunshower One or Sunshower Plus.
Sunshower uses two wavelengths. One reaches deeper into your muscles, while the other is absorbed near the surface of your skin. Together, they give a warmth that feels both deep and gentle.
Sunshower is designed to be used while you shower and fits new and existing showers alike.
A touchscreen panel with a motion sensor makes it easy to start and adjust, even with wet hands.
Choose white, black, grey or sand white to suit your tiles and brassware, so the panel looks like part of the design.
Infrared only helps where it reaches you, so placement matters more than anything else.
These are the points we work through when we design your shower.
Sunshower works best when it’s part of the bathroom design, considered alongside everything around it from the start.
How does it work with your shower? The panel should face you where you naturally stand, warming your shoulders and back while the water does its job. Its position is planned around the shower head, the controls and the door, so everything feels natural to use.
How does it sit with your tiles? A recessed panel lines up with the tile layout, so the glass sits flush and the grout lines run cleanly around it. Done well, it reads as part of the wall rather than something fixed to it.
Does it match the rest of the room? White, black, grey or sand white can be chosen to suit your tiles and brassware, so the panel blends with the finishes around it.
How will it be powered? Electrics in a shower are tightly regulated, so the supply and switching are planned alongside the lighting, heating and everything else in the room.
When these are decided together, Sunshower looks as if it was always meant to be there, and works beautifully every time you step in. That’s why we plan it as part of your bathroom, from the very first drawing.
If you’ve been imagining a wellness-inspired bathroom, a consultation at our Long Ditton showroom is the natural first step.
Yes. Wall-mounted and corner designs can be fitted to most existing showers with minimal disruption. A recessed panel needs depth in the wall, so it’s best planned as part of a new shower or bathroom refit.
UV gives your skin a light, gradual colour over time rather than a quick tan. Sessions are kept short and come with clear guidance on how often to use them. If you only want the warmth, you can choose infrared on its own.
Very little. Even the largest panel usually costs less than 15p for a ten-minute shower, because it only runs while you’re using it.
